RISEbio Program Scholarship

The Research Immersive Scholastic Experience in Biology (RISEbio) program is a unique support and scholarship program available to incoming first-year students who plan on studying a biology program (General Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Ecology, Plant Science, Zoology, Environmental Sciences, Biotechnology, or Food Science Technology) and demonstrate academic potential. RISEbio is for those students who are enthusiastic about biology and science, are interested in gaining a mentored research experience, and want to be part of a distinctive model of science education.

As a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded program, RISEbio scholars that demonstrate financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are awarded substantial scholarship funds (up to $2,500 per semester for 3 semesters; $7,500 total). Applicants do not need to meet NSF financial need requirements to be selected for participation. All RISEbio participants engage in a mentored authentic real-world research experiences starting in their first year by exchanging introductory biology laboratory sections for a hands-on research experience. No extra course work is required to participate in RISEbio. RISEbio Scholars are also part of a learning community that supports transitioning in to college. RISEbio helps students develop technical and professional skills, which ultimately help scholars springboard into additional research opportunities, internships, graduate/professional schools, and careers.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis after February 15th, 2021.
