Boyd Duncan, Gustav Petterson, T.R. Schaffler Scholarship

The Department of Sociology and Corrections will award scholarships for up to $1000 (up to $500 for each semester).

To be considered for a scholarship, a student must:

  • Be enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a major in Sociology or Corrections.
  • Be a junior or senior during the academic year of the award.
  • Have a grade-point average of at least 3.0 for all college level work completed prior to the semester during which
    application is made.

Supplemental Questions
  1. A statement of purpose describing in 500 words or less: why you chose to major in sociology or corrections, how your past and present activities and future plans reflect the Mission Statements of the Sociology and Corrections programs (available on department website), what you plan to do after graduation and your career goals.
  2. A copy of all unofficial undergraduate transcripts. NOTE: Applications not including transcripts will not be considered.
  3. A copy of their resume or Curriculum Vita, including: education, related work experience (type of work, dates, employers), related volunteer work (type of work, dates, organizations), awards, scholarships or grants, and professional conference participation or presentations.
