Equity & Inclusion Library Research Scholarship

The Equity & Inclusion Research Scholarship is sponsored by Library Services and is intended to encourage underrepresented* students to use the Memorial Library resources to produce scholarship and creative research. Recipients must be undergraduate students with at least two semesters left of coursework and may only receive the award once. Students may use current or completed research projects in the application.

*For example: being from a diverse background, including racial and ethnic backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in higher education, or other underrepresented groups including: LGBTQ+, having a disability, military status, single parent, first generation college student or considered non-traditional or lower-income persons. All students are encouraged to apply.

  1. Are you a member of an underrepresented group (for example: being from a diverse background, including racial and ethnic backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in higher education, or other underrepresented groups including: LGBTQ+, having a disability, military status, single parent, first generation college student or considered non-traditional or lower-income persons)?

  4. Enter the date the project was completed. Preference is given to assignments completed within the last 12 months.
  5. Write a brief, one- to two-sentence description of the project.
  6. Upload a written reflection with two parts. The first part must describe how you used the Minnesota State University, Mankato Library Services. This first part must include a discussion of three or more of the following library services: PEOPLE: Conversations about your research with a librarian at the reference desk, in a research appointment, or in a class session with a librarian. COLLECTIONS: Resources you accessed through a library website or in the library building (e.g., scholarly articles, historical documents, videos, books) SPACES: Quiet and social study spaces TECHNOLOGY: Library guides and tutorials, library computers (used in the library or checked out for use remotely), other equipment The second part must describe how these library services (people, collections, spaces, technology) are integrated into your research process. This reflection can be one of the following: A written, 250-500 word, one-to-two-page double-spaced document An original creative work and artist statement. The artist’s statement should be approximately 125-250 words A two-minute edited video
