World Languages and Cultures Scholarships (French or Scandinavian Studies)

A scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding student of French or Scandinavian Studies. All qualified students of French or Scandinavian Studies who will be attending MN State Mankato or studying abroad in an approved exchange program next year are encouraged to apply. Students must be full-time students (of any major) who will enroll in at least one Scandinavian Studies course in Fall and one course Spring (on campus or through study abroad) to be eligible.

Qualifications:

  1. Achieved, at a minimum, an overall GPA of 3.2 with a GPA of 3.5 in French or Scandinavian Studies
  2. Completed at least one French course beyond Intermediate level or Scandinavian course, preferably in Norwegian or Swedish language.
  3. Demonstrated enthusiastic and consistent participation in activities outside the regular French or Scandinavian Studies courses that involve using or promoting the French or Scandinavian language and culture.

Applicants should submit an essay providing specific examples of foreign-language related activities in which they are involved and future plans to use their French or Scandinavian language and cultural knowledge. This essay should include their projected coursework for the next academic year.
