Dirk V. Derksen & Margaret R. Petersen Biological Sciences Research Fund
Applicants must be graduate students who will be conducting laboratory or field research that addresses organisms or organismal interactions that include the following:
- life history
- community ecology
- reproductive ecology
- post-breeding ecology
- evolution
- molecular ecology
- taxonomy
- systematics
- behavior
- habitat preference
- toxicology
- disease
- climate change
No proxies or models for human studies will be accepted.
Research proposals should not exceed five pages and must include a title, abstract (~200 words), background, significance, hypothesis, methods, anticipated outcome and impact. Impact should include how the additional funds from this fellowship will enhance the research and why the additional funds are needed. In addition to the five page proposal, references/citations and a budget must be included as separate documents.
Funded proposals are expected to appear as a peer-reviewed article in a national circulation or book chapter.
