Bill Anderson Leadership Scholarship

Applicants must be *admitted *to the Social Work BSSW or MSW programs.

Two awards are granted to BSSW students and two to MSW students.

This scholarship is given to social work students who demonstrate leadership at the University, in the community, and/or within the social work profession. Leadership in social work is the daily application of our core values to fulfil the mission of social work: “to enhance human well-being and help meet the basic human needs of all people” (NASW Code of Ethics, 2021).

  1. Upload a formal letter (not more than two pages in length), that addresses all of the following areas, with emphasis on the description of your engagement in leadership AND future aspirations: 1. A description of your academic abilities and achievements, including GPA, academic honors, and achievements in social work or related courses. 2. A description of your engagement in leadership at the University, in the community, and/or within the social work profession. Provide specific example, including outcomes achieved as a result of your leadership. 3. A statement of your future aspirations for leadership as a generalist or advanced generalist social worker. 4. A statement of your financial need and current financial support (e.g., federal financial aid, university assistantships, or other scholarships. 5. A statement of your status in the BSSW major OR MSW program. This scholarship application process is competitive. Please be detailed in addressing the eligibility criteria, including providing specific examples of leadership. Reviewers evaluate both the content and quality of your written submission.
