Evelyn Tischer and James Tischer Honors Program Scholarship

The Evelyn Tischer and James Tischer Honors Scholarship at Minnesota State University, Mankato is designed to support an Honors Program student with leadership traits, a drive to succeed and a demonstrated ability to overcome adversity.

Qualifications:
Honors Program students in good standing* in the program and in their first-year of college are eligible to apply (transfer students do not qualify). The scholarship will be awarded to one Honors Program student based on the following criteria:

1. Demonstrated financial need.

2. Leadership Traits and Experience:
a. Involvement in the campus and/or community through student organizations, volunteering, employment, or athletics
b. Demonstrated level of commitment to involvement
c. Recognition of outstanding achievements either in high school or in college.

3. Student has motivation, passion, and goals necessary to succeed and to make a difference now and in the future.

4. Demonstrated ability to overcome adversity and challenging life circumstances.

The scholarship will provide funds for the student’s second, third and fourth years at Minnesota State University, Mankato, $8,000 per year. In addition, the student will receive $6,000 upon graduation, totaling $30,000.

*To be in good standing in the Honors Program, a student must have:

  • Successfully completed HONR 201
  • Met with their honors advisor during fall advising
  • Maintained a 3.3 cumulative GPA
