Speech Team Talent Grant

Incoming first-year students and first-year transfer students will be considered based on three criteria:

  1. Previous participation in competitive speech activities (required);
  2. Indicated interest in competitive speech at Minnesota State University, Mankato (required);
  3. Letter of recommendation from a former coach or teacher who is familiar with applicant’s speaking skills (required);
  4. Performance abilities demonstrated through a recorded video upload (optional, but preferred).

As a recipient of a Speech Team Talent Grant, you must participate on the MNSU Speech Team during your full first year. Talent Grant Recipients are required to attend weekly team meetings (Mondays 4-6pm) and individual and team coaching sessions, compete in at least 3 different events (2 of which must be prepared in fall semester), and travel to at least 3 tournaments a semester.
