Marie and Richard Henslin Scholarship

Marie and Richard Henslin Scholarship

The Marie and Richard Henslin Scholarship was established in honor of Dr. Earl Henslin’s parents who motivated and encouraged him to take risks and pursue his dreams. There has always been a strong emphasis on education that goes back for generations. Richard Henslin was a college graduate and served on the school board for the country schoolhouse that Earl attended for first grade. Marie Henslin loved, encouraged and supported Earl’s efforts in sports, music, and academics. Her unconditional support and patience shined especially while raising a son with undiagnosed ADD.

Marie and Richard were Earl’s greatest cheerleaders and especially proud when Earl graduated in the 70’s with a BA in Psychology and an MS in Counseling. Earl went on to earn a doctorate in clinical psychology, authored and co-authored 10 books, and over the years helped start 16 different non-profits. According to Earl, “One is not successful by themselves, it takes loving, encouraging parents that believe in you when you do not believe in yourself.”
