Jody Nelson
Jody Nelson worked in law enforcement at the local, county, and federal levels before her distinguished career at the Minneapolis Police Department where she served as a patrol officer, sergeant, investigator, and retired as a lieutenant. Jody accomplished all of these feats as part of the first generation of women entering the field of law enforcement and while raising two daughters as a single parent after she was widowed when her husband died. This scholarship has been created by her daughter to help those who may face similar challenges as they enter into the policing field.
Impact
This scholarship was created by her daughter, Dr. Pat Nelson, the founding chair of the Department of Criminal Justice.
