Jean Peterson

Jean Peterson served as Director of the Children’s House on the Minnesota State Mankato campus. She established this scholarship in 1993 in memory of her husband, E. Dale Peterson, after his sudden death in a car accident. E. Dale Peterson was a faculty member in the Department of Economics. He served as Chair of the Economics Department from 1960 until 1992. Dr. Peterson was also the director of the Minnesota Economic Association and former president of the faculty association. Dr. Peterson’s caring and compassionate nature won the hearts of many faculty, staff, and students. A tree was planted on the campus grounds in his memory. The plaque simply states: Humanist, Teacher, Leader, Friend, Gardener.
