Jane F. Earley American Literature Scholarship

Jane F. Earley American Literature Scholarship

Dr. Jane F. Earley came to Minnesota State University, Mankato in 1969 as Assistant Professor of English and taught in the English department for five years. In 1974, she moved into administration, serving as assistant dean, associate dean and finally Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. In 1977, she became the founding dean of the new College of Arts and Humanities, a post she held until her retirement in 2009. She also served the University for a year as Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs. Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Earley would often use quotations from authors she had taught (primarily Robert Frost and T.S. Eliot) to illustrate points and clarify issues. Scholarships from Dr. Earley’s endowment are awarded to faculty-selected students in American literature, based upon both work completed and the potential of good work to come.
