Minnesota Social Service Association (MSSA) - Region IX Scholarship

Applicants must be admitted to the Social Work BSSW or MSW programs.
Two awards will be granted to BSSW students and two to MSW students.

This scholarship is given to social work students who demonstrate a commitment to university, community or other volunteer service, and commitment to social service experience in the south-central Minnesota region.

  1. Upload a formal letter (not more than two pages in length), that addresses all of the following areas, with emphasis on the description of your commitment to service: 1.) A description of your academic abilities and achievements, including GPA, academic honors, and achievements in social work or related courses. 2.) A description of your commitment to social service, community service, and other service activities, including service responsibilities in the south-central Minnesota region. Activities could include paid work, volunteer service, organizational involvement, or internships that highlight skills, knowledge, or values of the social work profession. 3.) A statement of your professional goals or career plans as a social worker. 4.) A statement of your financial need and current financial support (e.g., federal financial aid, university assistantships, or other scholarships. 5.) A statement of your status in the BSSW major OR MSW program. This scholarship application process is competitive. Please be detailed in addressing the eligibility criteria, including providing specific examples of commitment to service in the south-central Minnesota region. Reviewers evaluate both the content and quality of your written submission.
